Assisting my Cousin with Government Paperwork
My cousin asked for assistance obtaining a transcript from his old high school from 1982 to amend his birth certificate. I help him research what it takes to get this done.
A few weeks ago I ran into my cousin in Sam's club where we talked about our current jobs. He shared he is struggling to get a government job because of his birth certificate. Whether this is true or not, he told me he needed to amend his birth certificate because of a typo but also that his father's last name was wrong and therefore his last name was wrong. In order to prove that the names were wrong and to amend the birth certificate. He needed proof of who he is in a document such as in a high school transcript. In addition, he wanted more proof by obtaining his father's original birth certificate from Mexico.
Today, my cousin called me to get further along in his journey to amend his birth certificate. First, we visited a Mexican government website to research how to obtain his father's birth certificate. We looked at the required documents and he is currently going to bring these next week. Next, we worked on obtaining an old high school transcript and we were successful in ordering a transcript from a 3rd party vendor. His second high school was not available online but that it is required to call the school to request a transcript. This information satisfied my cousin enough for him to take a break from this task but that we will try again next week.
